Walk in the footsteps of the Inkas and those that came before and journey with Sacred Travel Peru into the heart of ancient and mystical Perú.
From the stone streets of Cusco city to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Machu Picchu, you will immerse yourself deeply in the breathtaking beauty of the Peruvian Andes mountains. We will visit 5 of the most sacred and energetically powerful archeological sites in the world which are located in the Cusco region of Perú – Qoricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Pisaq, Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu. Our guides will illuminate the greater significance of these sites through sharing Ancient Andean cosmology and spirituality through stories and sacred ceremony that have remained unchanged for centuries.
The Best of the Sacred Andes tour is designed to maximize a brief time in the greater Cusco area, essentially, diving into what the Inkas called the Navel of the World. These magical places will touch you deeply, and impact your life forever.
Cusco. Your adventure begins in the ancient capital of the Inkan Empire– a place many believe is the energetic navel of the world. We will explore Cusco on foot, where you will notice how the ancient and the modern thrive side by side. Later, we will visit our first sacred site, the Qoricancha, known as ‘The Center of the Center”.
Sacsayhuaman. Here we will explore this ancient megalithic site that demonstrates the pinnacle of ancient engineering and potential metaphysical possibilities. Experience a rebirth experience as we enter the womb of the Mother Earth via sacred tunnel, and emerge anew on the other side.
Sacred Valley of the Inkas. The adventure continues as we descend from Cusco into the Sacred Valley, stopping on the way to pay the majectic condors a visit at the Cocha Wasi animal santuary. In the afternoon, we will honor Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Apus (Mountain Spirits) with an offering ceremony conducted by a Q’ero Paqo (Medicine Man).
Pisaq. Here we will visit a lovely Andean communiy, exploring its spectacular ruins with expansive terraces perched high along the mountainside. Later, we will wander about its famous craft market, where you can see many classic examples of Andean artistry.
Ollantaytambo. The journey continues as we make our way down to the end of the Sacred Valley of the Inkas and the impressive ancient town of Ollantaytambo. Here we will explore it’s megalithic sacred site, scaling many steps to the sun temple, and viewing the valley floor far below.
Machu Picchu Day 1. Our day begins with a spectacular train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village) where you will see the gradual change from the high sierra ecosystem, with its impressive snow-capped mountains, as we descend into the lush, green cloud forest. In the afternoon, we will ascend to the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu for a guided tour.
Machu Picchu Day 2. Today we will enter the Machu Picchu archeological park for a second time, with time to explore the site on your own and/or make one of the famous hikes to the top of Machu Picchu Mountain or Huayna Picchu.
Return to Cusco. After our explorations in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, we will return to Cusco city via train. Opportunities for any last minute souvenir shopping in town before we celebrate the conclusion of our journey with a farewell dinner.
